On September 2nd, 2023, I visited RiseNY. I was excited about the opportunity to fly over the buildings, rivers, and bridges of New York and to ride the subway. However, I was surprised to learn that the flight itself only lasted 6.5 minutes. In total, the experience (get to the ride) lasted about an hour, but most of that time was spent looking at pictures and reading historical facts about the city.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the ride technology was outdated. The same technology was used over 20 years ago in Disney. I expected something more modern, like 3D or augmented reality, but instead, I was shaken in mechanical seats and watched a low-resolution screen. The video quality was not up to my expectations either. I expected 4K quality, but instead, it was just a regular old movie.
I also wish there were two types of tickets available - one for just the ride (6.5 minutes) and a second for those who want to see the museum and ride (one hour).
