Cortile a Hudson Yards

Backyard at Hudson Yards is one of those places that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. It doesn't know if it is supposed to be an architectural art exhibit, a tourist attraction, or a passive park. Instead, what you have is an artistic multilevel structure as the center piece that while a visually attractive marvel, serves no purpose other than to be a tourist attraction lookout with a very limited view point because of all the taller buildings that bracket it, a small greenway with a walk and benches, a dollop of sun chairs, and a few food stands. It's nice, but it's just comes across as an incomprehensible mish mash of things thrown together in hopes of cohesion, but ends up as a plaster dash.

Fantastische plek om even bij te komen. Veel te zien terwijl je comfortabel zit op een bank die zo'n 40 meter lang is. Het is er netjes en schoon.

Love this set up. After walking from 14th Street a deck chair in the sun was most welcome. Watched the US Open on the big screen. On the backside of the “pine one” which is very unfortunately closed for good… I hope they find someway to open it in the future…and prevent people from jumping of it.

Open space with a large screen and unshaded seating near The Vessel. Great to come in the evenings during the summer when the sun is lower in the sky. There are concrete seating areas to the side, under the trees, which provide a little bit of shade during the hot summer days. They feature different events on this screen. There is a sign posted onsite with dates of events or you can visit their website for more information.

Buenas vistas y muy curiosa la estructura. El centro comercial de en frente tiene marcas de lujo, pero tiene un baño público.

Vessel se nachází na veřejném náměstí nově vybudované manhattanské čtvrti Hudson Yards, která je vůbec největším developerským projektem v historii USA. Luxusní venkovní vyhlídka je sestavená z navzájem propojených schodišť a díky své konstrukci vytváří efektní tvar pláství. Za pozoruhodnou stavbou stojí zkušený britský designér Thomas Heatherwick. Ten se v minulosti podílel například na návrhu a realizaci dvoupatrového londýnského autobusu New Routemaster, komplexu kancelářských budov, hotelů a obchodního centra v Hong Kongu Pacific Place, UK pavilonu na světové výstavě EXPO 2010 v Šanghaji nebo kotli pro olympijský oheň na LOH 2012. Výstavba atypické vyhlídky začala v dubnu 2017 a otevřena byla 15. března 2019. Vessel nabízela luxusní výhled na New York z několika perspektiv a výšky 46 metrů, po zdolání 2500 schodů, 154 schodišť a 15 podlaží. Pro lidi se zdravotním omezením je k dispozici také výtah.
Bohužel předposlední červencový den roku 2021 vešel v doprovodu své rodiny dovnitř čtrnáctiletý chlapec. A skočil. Po této tragédii byla The Vessel uzavřena. A možná už navždy. Rozhodovat o jejím dalším osudu budou majitel a další investoři komplexu Hudson Yards.
Okolí je však úžasné, můžete si zde odpočinout u velkoplošné obrazovky v pohodlných sedačkách, projít po High line nebo vyjet na jednu z nejkrásnějších vyhlídek v New Yorku, The Edge.
